History of Emerald City Energy
Founder Chris Shults grew up in Seattle & started in the window industry in 1984 at Washington Natural Gas (now known as Puget Sound Energy).
In 1997, a few years after Puget Power & WNG merged to form PSE, Chris, who was the Window Division Manager, left to start Emerald City Energy.
McLendon Home Services began as the window and door installer for the McLendon Hardware stores in 2008. Since then it has grown to be the exclusive provider of all installed home services for the seven McLendon stores throughout the Puget Sound. Beyond windows and doors we have plumbers and handymen installing a myriad of store purchased products, from water heaters to attic ladders.
Today Emerald City Energy and McLendon Home Services are one in the same. The McLendon mantra of “legendary customer service” permeates every aspect of our company. We have certainly grown over the years but still have the same values in lockstep with the family owned McLendon stores. Just has McLendon Hardware has succeeded in being the alternative to the big box store, so too has Emerald City Energy/McLendon Home Services continued its growth by being the quality and value alternative to the big window/door companies in the region.
Current owners Andy Wigen and Taylor Judd, also WNG veterans, are proud of the commitment to customer care exhibited by all Emerald City Energy/McLendon Home Services employees. We believe that from our caring operations team to our craftsman installers, we prove why we are the most highly praised company in the northwest each and every day.
